Topical Investigations on Performance of Steel Buildings in Past Earthquakes Task 3.1.4 Institutional Demands Caused by WSMF Damage Principal Investigator: James Goltz
It is the purpose of Task 3.1.4 to document and characterize selected institutional impacts of earthquake damage to WSMF buildings that have implications on the ability of a community to provide technical and support services necessary for post-earthquake inspection and recovery. Information will be collected from the following institutions to characterize the demands for services and supply of resources in response to the damage to WSMF buildings in the Northridge earthquake: testing laboratories, welding contractors, specialty services companies, engineering consultants, and building departments. Information will be sought on impacts to, and response of insurance and financial institutions. Data will be collected principally from interviews. The detailed breakdown of the technical activities in this task are
provided in the workstatement available here.
